CSES club wins national poster competition

The Crop, Soil, and Environmental Sciences Undergraduate Club won first place in the poster competition in October at the American Society of Agronomy convention in Cincinnati. The winning entry was titled "Growing Young Minds: Expanding the Use of a Garden as an Outdoor Class." Professor Mary Savin is the group's sponsor. Club members at the convention were Douglas Carl Wolf, Sarah Duke, Camille Montgomery, Brian Wempe and Cory Davis Johnson.
Johnson placed third in the Undergraduate Research Symposium-Oral Presentation Contest with a presentation on "Invertebrate Abundances and Diversity in Surface Litters of a Six Year Old Organic Apple Orchard in Northwest Arkansas," mentored by Savin. Wolf presented a poster in the Undergraduate Research Symposium-Poster Presentation Contest titled "Bermudagrass Growth in Hydraulic-Fracturing-Drilling-Fluid-Contaminated Soil," mentored by Professor Kris Brye.
